My MBA dream!!!

Few years ago I was thinking that one day I will do my MBA. Not sure when and from where but I was confident enough that some day I will pursue my MBA. This remind's me of Lalu Prasad yadav's statement after the 2004 elections - "One day... Not today but tomorrow...". Last year somewhere around this time, I was busy giving GMAT and TOEFL and then immediately started working on my essays. Did I study much? NO I didn't because I had too much work load on me - Thanks to my colleague who was asked to quit Wipro for violating security policies.
I never thought that writing essays to such simple questions was so difficult. It was not until I completed the first draft and read it myself that I felt that it was one of the most pathetic thing I had ever read. Finally after much work and invaluable review comments from my friends, I was able to finish the essays just in time ( most of them were submitted just a few minutes prior to the deadline). I would suggest everyone never to do anything like that. One job finisher but not to forget that you have to write your recommendation letters yourselves. Your managers/supervisors will just sign them for you. So be spare enough time for your reco's as well. In short you have to write about yourselves atleast 3 times - once in essay and atleast 2 reco's. If you think that's not difficult, think again and AGAIN... And believe me the managers are one of the laziest people on this earth. Few of them will take months to submit the recommendation letter for you even if it was ready long back. Well, you have no other option...
Once that was over, I was waiting for replies from the colleges where I had applied. 5 rejects and one waitlist out of 8 applications by the end of March. How do I feel? Definitely not good. I waited and waited and waited because I had no other choice. Then finally I get one acceptance in April. Am I happy? Not much because I expected a way too many admits and got just one. Still I knew no matter what, I was going to start my MBA in Fall 2007. In June I got converted from waitlist after tons of calls to the college admissions team. Oh yes, the eighth college already sent their rejection in May.

So here I was, with 2 admits out of 8, way below my "unrealistic" expectations. The two admits were Krannert School of Business @ Purdue University and Fisher College of Business @ THE Ohio State University. I selected the Fisher College. Why? The reasons might sound funny but here they are
1. My dear friend Hardik had got the admit for MBA from the same school and thought we would be together.
2. Purdue was located in a small college town whereas OSU was in a bigger city and I wanted to be in a bigger city - dont know why though.
and last but not the least
3. OSU Buckeye's were doing better than Purdue boilermaker's in the football seasons...

Come fall of 2007 and I finally reached Columbus, Ohio after a 2.5 months of vacation in India. One of the biggest vacations some Indian in US can ever dream of.
My parents would be very happy that I could do my MBA from one of the good schools. One person whom I would like to give a lot of credit for encouraging me again and again and again for pursuing MBA is TK Uncle who is a very great friend of my dad. He really pushed me harder and harder so that I do my MBA one day. I am sure he is very happy for me today.
Well more about my MBA experience in the next post.

GO Bucks!!!

Note: Go bucks is to cheer the OSU Buckeye's football team which is currently no. 1 in US in the 2007 season.

Hi All,
I have been viewing few blogs since a while now but I have never been a regular visitor to the blogs.
I try to visit to the blogs regularly but the work and laziness doesnt allow me to do that.

Well about me. I would be joining the Full time MBA program at the Fisher College of Business at the Ohio State University this Fall. Right now I am in India but would be traveling to Columbus soon.
